Congregational Announcements

Stories & Stuff: Thursday, March 17 at 10:00 a.m. in Tabor’s South rooms. Do you have longstanding Easter traditions? How do you celebrate Easter? Maybe you have a “resurrection” story to share. Bring an object or a picture that helps you tell a short story, although it isn’t required. No sign up sheet! Just come to share stories, food, fun and fellowship. Everyone is welcome!

WDC/SCC Women’s Spring Supper will be at Whitestone Mennonite Church, Hesston on Thursday, March 17, at 6pm. Reservation, with name(s), need to be made by March 10 to: ksmennonitewomen or 620-327-8201 (Angie at Hesston College). Sign up sheet for attending the event and carpooling is on the bulletin board.

Mennonite Heritage & Agricultural Museum 2016 Heritage Fundraiser Dinner

will be held here, at Tabor Mennonite Church, Saturday, March 19, at 6:30 p.m.

Our special entertainment will be The Sunflower Trio featuring Ken Rodgers, Rebecca Schloneger, and Matthew Schloneger in a program celebrating Kansas for Tenor, Violin, and Piano. Ticket price is $50 per person or if this is your first time attending only $25. Please call the museum at 620-367-8200

Youth Serve Meal at HCHS: The Youth will be serving the evening meal at the Harvey County Homeless Shelter on Wednesday, March 30. We will plan to meet in Newton at 5:30pm to serve the meal and visit with the residents. Each youth should bring a potluck dish to share.

What do Five Mennonites and a Greek have in common? Come to the salad supper on April 25th and listen to stories from a group of women who have been strung together on a string, supporting each other and laughing together, while learning how to draw faith from God and move forward.

Tabor Wellness

-In March you can participate with a partner in the Superfoods Challenge to see how many Superfoods you can try. Forms are located on the Wellness display board in the foyer.

-The weather is warming up! Join the Tabor Goes Mobile activity challenge and log your daily activity. Details are on the Wellness display.

KS MCC SALE: April 8 and 9

$221.82 was raised at the Tabor Pie Festival last Sunday and given to MCC Sale pre-sale expenses. Kansas Mennonites have given over $60,000 toward pre-sale expenses. Our total budged this year is $75,000. If you haven’t given a little yet, please put the checks in our boxes and make checks out to MCC. Everyone doing a little makes this achievable. Thanks to all of you have given to this to date. Tabor folks have already given around $2300 toward pre-sale expense.

Sign-up sheets for pies, zweibach, and bread have been added to our table. Please fill the slots.

Bring the things you have made for the sale and put them on the tables in the Fellowship Hall.

Support the Tabor 5K runners. If you are on the team please let Jerry Toews or Kim Funk know and we will put your name in the bulletin. Please support these 5K runners with your donations.

Thanks to those of you who participated in the very fun Comforter Blitz—This is a growing activity with 280 comforters made this year.

Bohne Broggie making day at Moundridge High School is Sat., April 2, 6:30 am – 11 am. Come anytime and help for a couple hours. No experience needed.

Verenike making day at Hillsboro Fair Grounds Tues., April 4, beginning at 8 am., morning or afternoon shifts. These are inspiring events. Come and have fun helping make 23,000 verenike!! No experience needed.

Help detail cars and trucks at Jerry and Leann’s place Monday, March 14 starting at 9 am. N0 experience needed.

« Mennonite Mission Network: Praise God for Mennonite Mission Network partners in Mongolia and the Mongolian Prayer Movement that began four years ago. Pray with Christians in Mongolia as they desire to send mission teams to each of the 40 modern-day countries that once made up Genghis Khan’s vast 13th-century empire..

Camp Mennoscah Retreats and Opportunities:

Peace Connections and Hesston College will be presenting a Poverty Simulation on Monday, March 28th from 6:30 – 9:00pm. This event is sponsored by the Hesston Community Foundation and is free to the public! In just a few hours you will fast forward through a month in the life of a family living in poverty. This guided role play enables the participant experience the everyday struggles faced by families living in poverty, including those in Harvey County. Community Support Fund/Hesston Community Foundation fundraiser at Dyck Arboretum on Saturday, March 19, from 3-5pm. Come shop for everything from food to health and beauty supplies to jewelry and more! There’s something for everyone, including face painting for the kids! Job Opportunities

The MCC Central States Executive Director position is available starting in June. The Executive Director promotes and encourages support of MCC. The Director works hand-in-hand with a management team which includes the Program Director and the Director of Donor Relations to provide vision and leadership to MCC program in the region and to develop and maintain strong relationships between MCC and its constituents in the region. This full-time position requires considerable cooperation and coordination with MCC US and the other regional MCCs and considerable travel in the region and beyond. MCC Central States is hiring for an Office Manager/Bookkeeper. This position is available starting on April 1 at the MCC office in North Newton. The Office Manager provides public relations, completes bill paying, bookkeeping and other financial tasks, assists volunteers and other departments as needed, maintains CS information in MCC databases and completes general office management tasks.
