Children’s Faith Formation:
—Please sign up to help with opening, snacks, and crafts during the month of July.
—July 21 we realize Jesus played in the sand, and as an adult, he told a story about wise and foolish builders. Children will have fun experiencing the difference between wise and foolish building.
—July 28 our taste buds will find out what Jesus ate!
Children’s Day Camp:
—We are looking for two people to help assist with our day camp on Tuesday, July 23. If interested, please contact Michelle Unruh, 747-0991.
—Donations requested: Our theme for July 23 is “Service,” and the children will assemble Hygiene Kits for Mennonite Central Committee. Please consider donating any of the following items:
adult-size toothbrush (in package) large bar bath soap (in wrapper),
nail clipper (good quality) wide-toothed comb (6-8 in),
hand towel (medium weight, dark or bright colors; approx. 16 in. x 26 in).
We are also collecting gently used children’s books and puzzles (25-100 pieces) to donate to the Et Cetera Shop. Place hygiene kit items and puzzles and books in the blue tubs, both located beneath the coat rack.
Delicious Coffee for Sale: The Youth Group still has coffee available for purchase: Medium Roast, Dark Roast, and Decaf, all in both ground and whole bean varieties. These are $15 a bag, with over half of the proceeds going to TMYF. Thanks so much for your continued support of our youth!
The Tabor Food Pantry needs your help! Groceries on the shelves are running very low. When you do your grocery shopping, buy a little extra for the food pantry. Every item helps. All foods are needed, especially canned meats, applesauce, fruits, pancake mix and syrup, jelly, ramen noodles, spaghetti sauce, rice, instant potatoes, mixed vegetables, cake mixes, cereal and oatmeal, as well as bathroom tissue, laundry soap, dish soap and shampoo. You may leave items in the church office or place them on the table north of the basement kitchen where the food pantry shelves are now located. Thanks for your continued support.
Building Dedication: For our dedication service on August 25, the worship planning team would like to have a volunteer choir share music that morning. This choir is open to all who would like to participate. You do not need to be a regular choir member to be a part of this choir. In fact we encourage anyone, including 5th graders on up, to join us! We will rehearse again on August 4 during finger food fellowship time. If you have further questions, please contact Marcene Entz.
Friends, family, and guests will be coming to Goessel for Threshing Days! Would you help us (The Mennonite Heritage & Agricultural Museum) feed them on Saturday, August 3? Zwieback bakers and servers for the second shift are especially needed. Please see the volunteer sheet in your mailbox and respond by July 21. Come celebrate the Schroeder Barn face lift at the museum Sunday Aug. 4 at 2:00 p.m. Event will be held on the east side of the Barn with refreshments served. A special welcome goes out to any Schroeder Family descendants able to attend. Bring stories of this barn or indeed any barn stories are welcomed to share. « Mennonite Mission Network: MMN requests prayer for Elena Buckwalter and Freddy Satalaya, recently married and serving in Iquitos, Peru. Pray for them as they give leadership to the Isla Bonita ministry, sharing God’s love and care with children and adolescents.
« Mennonite Education Agency: Give thanks for God’s work through the scholarship of AMBS faculty and students and the Institute of Mennonite Studies! —Tom and Lois Harder and their three daughters (“Five Times Harder”) will perform a concert of folk and bluegrass music at First Mennonite Church of Hillsboro on Wednesday, July 24, at 7:30.
—Christopher Shaw will present an organ recital at Bethel College Mennonite Church, North Newton, on Sunday, July 28, at 3pm.
—Young Adult Weekend on August 2-4! Young adults (18 and older) are invited to spend a weekend enjoying camp activities, worship, and fellowship. Attendees will share in preparing simple meals. Scholarships are available online.
—Sing for Camp Mennoscah! We’re having our annual Camp Sing celebration of a stunning summer of youth camps on August 11 at Hoffnungsau Mennonite Church in Inman. We’ll start with a storytime from 5:45pm – 6:05pm, followed by joyous singing at 6:30pm. After joyfully worshiping in camp songs and hymns, we’ll share in popcorn, pop and conversation. All are invited, whatever your age or skill!
—The Mental Health Spiritual Retreat at Camp Mennoscah will be September 1-2. The theme for the retreat is Living Peacefully! Come support each other and enjoy fellowship, music, and worship. This retreat is for individuals affected by mental illness, including family and friends.

Mennonite Disaster Service (MDS): Experience the sights and sounds of a virtual tornado, and learn how MDS brings hope to survivors of disasters. Hesston College will host MDS’s The Storm Encounter mobile theatre on Sunday, July 28, from 3 to 7 p.m. on the northeast area of the Hesston College campus near Keim Center. The “encounter” experience takes about 30 minutes with groups of 8 rotating into the exhibit every 15 minutes.
