Congregational Announcements
Technology Updates: Tabor recently received an upgrade in internet speed, which allows us to more easily upload our sermons and worship services to the internet. Sermons can be found on our church website soon after the worship service. The entire service video will be uploaded, but kept as an unlisted link. If you would like to watch an entire worship service, simply send an email to Kim Funk (kfunk) and she will email you a link to the service. From now on, we will only make DVDs and CDs of the worship service by request. We will no longer make copies to be checked out. Please visit with Pastor Phil if you have any questions.
Summer FF begins June 17: Sign up on the bulletin board to help with summer faith formation for our children. Activity/craft leaders and helpers are needed as well as snack provisions. Carol Duerksen will be the storyteller for the summer. Thanks for sharing your gifts with our children.
—All high school youth through adults will meet together using Mennonite Central Committee’s curriculum, Preventing Gun Violence.

Registration for Western District Annual Assembly on July 27-29 is now open. See sign up sheet on the bulletin board. Deadline to sign up is Sunday, July 8. If you would like to attend, registration expenses will be covered by Tabor’s Worship Planning Team. Assembly will be held at Tabor Mennonite on July 27, Eden Mennonite on July 28 and Alexanderwohl Mennonite on July 29. If you would like to serve as a Tabor Delegate, please check that box on the sign up sheet.
Mennonite Heritage and Agricultural Museum: Free admission on Saturday, June 16, 2018. So bring your father out to enjoy a car show and a free day at the Museum. We will have Cool-cars and Cool-trucks to enjoy and Hot-dogs available for lunch. If you or your father would like to exhibit a car or truck there is a $10 fee. Museum parking lot from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Come on down.

« Western District Conference: Pray today for Iglesia Menonita Casa Betania in Newton, as they celebrate their 10th anniversary, and for First Mennonite Church in McPherson, as they install Rose Marie Zook Barber as their new pastor.
« Mennonite Mission Network: MMN requests prayer for Service Adventure participants who are ending their assignments in Albuquerque (New Mexico), Anchorage (Alaska), Colorado Springs (Colorado), Jackson (Mississippi), and Johnstown (Pennsylvania). Praise God for all they gave and received during the past 10 months. Pray for them as they integrate this year’s learnings into their life choices.
« Mennonite Education Agency: Bethel College: Pray for the seven Bethel College students awarded 2018 Summer Research Grants as they explore topics in Bible and religion, communication arts, English, history and peace studies, natural sciences and psychology.
« Mennonite Disaster Service: This week we rejoice with the community of La Grange, Texas where new homes will be constructed for Hurricane Harvey survivors in an area called Hope Hill. We pray for those organizing the work and for enough volunteers to bring people home. We ask God for hearts to be moved and hammers to ring. We also pray for those suffering because of the volcanos in Hawaii and Guatemala. MDS is monitoring the situation in Hawaii.
Western District Conference:

Language Interpretation Ministry Team: WDC seeks to establish a ministry team of persons located in different areas of the conference, who can provide language interpretation for WDC meetings and events in order to enhance participation by individuals who speak different languages. Assessment, orientation and training will be provided for Team members, as well as some financial compensation through grant funds WDC has received. Please contact WDC at wdc or 316-283-6300 if you have skills in a second language and are interested in applying or learning more about this ministry opportunity!
Camp Mennoscah:
– We are in search of tin cans for crafts this summer! Any empty can (only one lid removed) from canned foods would work. “Normal” sized cans (~14-20oz) are best; little cans from items like tuna and chicken are too small. We need approximately 60 by the first week of camp, and about 120 total for the summer. Any help collecting these cans would be greatly appreciated!
– Send a camper to camp or bring a friend with you! Camp Mennoscah has both room and scholarships for more campers. Grab your friendly neighborhood friend, a cousin, or someone who would benefit from a week of worship and fun!
– Kitchen staff for the week of July 15-21 are still needed. We have this amazing new kitchen and we’d love to share it with you. Our fearless head cooks will be there to help you create great meals! Contact camp to volunteer. Parent discounts are available for up to full camp fees.
– Family Weekend is June 30-July 1! It’s a weekend focused on giving you the most time to spend with your family and friends. Our time together is loosely scheduled and you can choose what to do–worship, river play, swimming, crafts, or even just talking with each other!

—Sexualized violence and the church webinar, June 13 2 pm – 3 pm: Mennonite Central Committee is offering the third webinar in our three-part series this spring for churches and individuals to learn about addressing sexualized violence within the church. This webinar focusing on Healthy masculinity will cover how the church can prepare men to talk to their sons about healthy masculinity and what men should tell boys about sexual violence. Speakers will be Glen Guyton, the new Executive Director for MCUSA and Isaac Villegas, pastor at Chapel Hill (North Carolina) Mennonite Fellowship. Once again, we had an amazing weekend at Camp Washunga! The weather was really hot but it was nice to cool off in the pool! The food and snacks were delicious and the discussion was life-giving. Please ask the junior highers for more highlights and memories from their time at camp! Thank you to all who prayed for our junior highers leading up to and during that weekend. And a big thank you to those who donated snacks or hammers, or money to allow us to attend. —Sunday, June 17, Southern Hills Mennonite Church of Topeka will host a celebration of 30 years of joint ministry by Cynthia and Roger Neufeld Smith, who began ministry at SHMC September 1988 and will take new positions summer of 2018 with Mennonite Mission Network as Service Adventure leaders in Jackson, MS. All are welcome to attend the special worship service at 9:30 am, noon meal, and 1 pm program by representatives of community and WDC. —Mennonite Church of the Servant will show the video, “Hawo’s Dinner Party: The New Face of Southern Hospitality” on Friday, June 22, at 7 pm. The story of Hawo, a Somali refugee and former nurse, and the handful of local residents who come together to help create a more integrated and thriving community, puts a human face on the complex issues we face in this time of increasing globalization and changing demographics. The church is located at 2401 N. Woodland, Wichita.

Summer is here and the Newton Et Cetera Shop is a great place to spend your time! You’re invited to become a summer volunteer if you’ve got a few hours to give back to our community once a month or once a week. The West Zion Mennonite Church, Moundridge, will continue their Concert Series with an event on Sunday evening, June 10 at 7 pm. Performers will include Christopher Shaw, Organ; Joey Menninger, Viola; RoJean Loucks, Celtic Harp; the Flannelbacks, a men’s vocal ensemble; and Donna Stucky, Piano.
During the free concert a free-will offering will be received. After the concert, there will be a time of fellowship, with refreshments served.
Kidron-Bethel Parkinson’s Support Group will meet Tuesday, June 5, at
2 pm in Menno Hall. Dennis Schmidt will share “My Journey with Parkinson’s.” All are welcome.

Rejoice! A devotional booklet for the months of June/July/August and published by MennoMedia, is now available on the literature table in the foyer and also in the north facing mailboxes. The Education committee provides these for anyone who wishes to have one.
Bethesda Home Annual Meeting: Wednesday, May 30 at 7:00 p.m. The meeting will include Sara Hiebert, CEO/Administrator, sharing of plans for the future of Bethesda, election of board members, financial report, an offering, AND a pie social following with wide variety of pies to select from. It’s a time to celebrate good changes at Bethesda. Please join us to be informed about this ministry that you support.
Tabor Garage Sale: A few new items, including used computer monitors, have been added along with the remaining ‘treasures’ in the fellowship hall. Please leave a donation for the building fund if you find something that you want to take home.

Camp Mennoscah:
—Come volunteer to help rebuild The Whale! Construction is continuing, and we need your help! May 25-26 will be cutting and staining the wood in Newton. June 1-2 will be platform and decking installation at camp, and the week of June 3 will be installing the railings and spreading mulch. If you’d like to be a part of the action, contact the camp, let us know which days you can be there, and we’ll get back to you with more details. We’re really excited to have this up by the time summer youth camps begin on June 10 and hope you are, too!

Try it once, come occasionally or join us regularly – all are welcome, with no previous experience with Centering Prayer required. —Sat., June 2 – The public is invited to Walk Sand Creek Trail Day, part of National Trails Day®. Water will be available for people and dogs at the trailhead at Memorial Grove on the Bethel College campus, dawn to dusk (6 a.m.-8 p.m.), courtesy of the Sand Creek Trail Committee.
—Sat., June 2 – Kauffman Museum First-Saturday Bird Walk. Join experienced birders at 6:30 a.m. in the museum parking lot for a walk of 1 to 1.5 hours. Please be aware this is mostly on an unpaved trail and the terrain is sometimes sloping or steep.
