Vacation Bible School:

—Monday Lunch Sign-up. Tabor Outreach Commission is coordinating/providing lunch for anyone interested (children, parents, families, teachers, helpers, etc…) after Bible School on Monday, June 3. If you are interested in providing part of the taco salad meal, please sign up on the bulletin board for the items and amounts you can bring. Summer Day Camp: Sponsored by area churches, this is a Free Day Camp in July for children entering 1st-5th Grade. Brochures with dates and complete information can be found on the table in the foyer. Sign up today!!

Mennonite Church USA Convention will be held in Kansas City July 2-6. Delegates from Tabor are Pastor Phil Schmidt, Leann Toews, Eric Litwiller, and Jose Suastegui (who will be serving instead of Emil Schmidt due to farming circumstances).

Western District Annual Assembly will take place July 26-27 on the Bethel College Campus. If you would like to serve as a delegate for Tabor, please contact a pastor, or the church office to volunteer.

The Second Monday Family History & Genealogy Group will meet on Monday, June 10, 2019, 7:00 p.m., in the Goessel City Building Community Room. Arlin Buller and Gladys Voth will present their research on “Seagoing Cowboys,” a project of the Mennonite Central Committee in the 1940s in response to the extreme needs of post war Europe and Asia. Cattle and tractors were sent by boat in a relief effort that experienced success beyond expectations!

« Mennonite Mission Network: Eid al Fitr begins Tuesday at sundown. This Islamic holiday marks the end of a month of fasting. Pray for Middle East Media, a MMN partner, that uses filmmaking, videos and websites to share God’s love and hope with Muslim believers in culturally relevant ways.

Camp Mennoscah:

-Summer youth camps at Camp Mennoscah start June 9! We still have openings for all of our camps grades 3-9 and expect to open more spaces for our senior high camp soon! Our theme for the summer is Peace Works! Invite a friend, tell a cousin, and send a grandkid, niece, or nephew! Camp is great for faith formation and learning to live in loving community with others. Fun is to be had–and we’ve got it!

-Camp cooks needed! Camp Mennoscah is looking for 1-2 kitchen helpers for June 9-15 and one kitchen helper/cook for July 14-20. These are fun times with lots of camaraderie and silliness! All you need is love, willing hands, and a smiling face (after your morning coffee or tea). Camper discount available to parents who work as

kitchen staff. Be part of the fun!

Mennonite Central Committee (MCC) needs your help to replenish supplies in our Material Resources Center! The following items are running low: black and white spools of all-purpose thread, minimum 250 yards, for Sewing Kits (each kit has 3 spools of each color in it). Lotion, minimum 10 oz, for Returning Citizen Care Kits, and sanitary napkins, thin maxi, any count, for Relief Kits. MCC only distributes complete kits, so when we are low on one item the processing of the entire kit comes to a halt. Items for kits can be dropped off or shipped to MCC Central States, 121 E. 30th, PO Box 235, North Newton, KS 67117. Questions? Check out the kits page at katemast.

The Kidron Bethel Parkinson’s Support Group will meet in Menno Hall on Tuesday, June 4, at 2:00 p.m. Mike and Debbie Dennis will share their journey with Parkinson’s Disease.

Final Cleaning for the new addition will be on Wednesday, May 29! Come for supper at 5:30 with cleaning starting at 6:00. Everyone is welcome to come help with this final step of the project!

WDC Immigration Task Force invites you to attend the July 2 pre-convention seminar "Welcoming Immigrants in 2019" prior to the Mennonite Church USA convention in Kansas City. WDC has 5 ($100 each) scholarships that would allow a delegate or other #MennoCon19 participant to register for this seminar and have at least part of an extra night in a convention hotel paid for. If you are interested in a scholarship, please email wdc as soon as possible. WDC has special permission to add names to this seminar even though it is past the deadline.

Camp Mennoscah:

—Part-week nurse needed for Junior High I camp! June 13-15 (Thursday-Saturday). Nurses need to be licensed in Kansas and be a RN (or equivalent).

—The second Work & Play Day will be May 25 at Camp Mennoscah from 8:30am to 2:30pm. These single work days replace our fall Work & Play Camp. We hope to finish up the work on the bunk beds and put planks back in the dam (pending weather). Projects will vary based on skill, ages, and weather. A simple lunch will be served. All ages welcome; those under 18 must have an adult with them.

—Camp Mennoscah has openings for more summer youth campers for grades 3 to High School (fall 2019). Weeks will be filled with worship, singing, Bible study, friendship bracelets, swimming and river play, and gobs of other fun stuff. Our theme is Peace Works: Empowering Peacemakers.

—Camp Mennoscah is looking for a limited number of kitchen staff for certain weeks in the summer. Thank you for helping us fill all the needed spaces! Contact us for dates.

Mennonite Economic Development Associates (MEDA) Kansas Network Hub and Hesston College Aviation will partner for an evening learning event and catered meal on Tuesday, June 4, at the Hesston College hangar at the Newton City/County Airport, 502 N. Oliver. The programming and meal are free though donations are welcome to help with expenses. Reservations are required by Friday, May 31 or until maximum capacity is reached. RSVP at sballard or 620-896-7381. The evening’s programming will include tours of the Hesston College Aviation facility and airplane fleet, meeting the instructors, information about the flight training program and the recent addition of a four-year bachelor degree, and demonstrations on the simulated advanced training device.

Bethel College:

—Centering Prayer will not meet Mon., May 27 (Memorial Day), but continues to meet most Mondays from noon-1 p.m. in Agape Center in Richert House on the Bethel campus. —Sat., June 1 – The public is invited to Walk Sand Creek Trail Day, part of National Trails Day®. Water will be available for people and dogs at the trailhead at Memorial Grove on the Bethel College campus, dawn to dusk (6 a.m.-8 p.m.), courtesy of the Sand Creek Trail Committee. This year, Walk Sand Creek Trail Day is also Jacob D. Goering Trail Day in the city of North Newton, in honor of one of the trail’s co-founders, who died Jan. 12 at age 101.

—There are still some openings for several of Kauffman Museum’s Uncle Carl’s Camps, half-day camps held across the street from the Bethel College campus: “Figuratively Speaking” (3rd-6th art), “Unraveling History’s Mysteries” (3rd-6th history), “Little House on the Prairie” (ages 4 & 5), “Farm to Table” (5th-12th), and “Farm to Table Together” (3rd-12th with adults). Tabor Mennonite Women: If you signed up for the Tabor Women’s Mystery Trip on Thursday, May 23, 2019, please note the following details:

—Meet at Tabor Church at 5 pm. Please be prepared to pay $20 before you are assigned to your ride. We will leave the church promptly at 5:30 p.m., so please be on time. We will return to Tabor between 8-8:30 p.m.

—What if I need to cancel? We recognize cancellations may be necessary. If you need to cancel your reservation, please do so by contacting Ruby Graber or Pastor Rosie Jantz as soon as possible or on Tuesday, May 21, to avoid a $10 cancellation fee (the restaurant policy).

—Sun., May 19 – Bethel College celebrates its 126th commencement this afternoon. Say a prayer of thanksgiving, and hope for the future, for the Class of 2019 and their families and friends.

—Sat., June 1 – This year on National Trails Day® (a program of the American Hiking Society), the city of North Newton has also declared Jacob D. Goering Trail Day. Goering died Jan. 12, on his 101st birthday. He was a founder and a driving force behind the development of Sand Creek Trail on the Bethel College campus. June 1, members of the Sand Creek Trail Committee will have water available for walkers at the Memorial Grove trailhead of Sand Creek Trail from dawn to dusk.
